DANGEROUS GOODS TRANSPORTATION BY AIR

WuliuAir is a certified dangerous goods transportation provider. Our team members have finished IATA DG courses and are fully prepared to consult and handle various types of hazardous shipments.

According to IATA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Manual, “Dangerous goods are articles or substances which are capable of posing a hazard to health, safety, property or the environment”. So safety regulations must be followed precisely when shipping dangerous cargo.

Some examples of  dangerous goods are aerosols, lithium batteries, infectious substances, fireworks, dry-ice, gasoline powered engines and machinery, lighters, and paint.

TYPES OF DANGEROUS GOODS

BATTERIES

Lithium batteries are classified as dangerous goods and can cause a safety risk if not properly prepared and shipped not in compliance with international transport regulations.

Lithium batteries can be shipped by air under specific stipulations. Lithium metal and lithium-ion cells and batteries shipped alone and not installed in a device or packed with the device are forbidden to be shipped as cargo on a passenger aircraft.

When batteries are contained in the equipment, they can be shipped by both by passenger and cargo aircraft, taking into account special packaging requirements and fulfilling other conditions.

INFECTIOUS SUBSTANCES

Infectious substances are another category of dangerous goods. It includes the transportation of biological products, clinical waste, exempt human specimens, and exempt animal specimens.

All handling and packaging requirements and other stipulations for shipping this kind of shipment are covered by the “Infectious Substances Shipping Regulations (ISSR)” prepared by IATA.
